Vocational education and training (VET) institutions in Western Australia offer you the opportunity to develop your skills in real and simulated work environments.
VET courses generally focus on providing occupational or work-related knowledge and skills. They offer different levels of certificate qualifications, diplomas, advanced diplomas and in some cases, higher education degrees. You can undertake VET courses in a range of areas including:
- business and management
- science and technology
- design and arts
- sport and recreation
- community service and health
- tourism and hospitality
- engineering and building
- horticulture and land management
- English and other languages.
Courses start at different times during the year and can be between four months to three years full-time. Part-time courses are also available.
Depending on the VET course you complete, you may be eligible to apply for university study using your VET qualification.
VET courses are provided by both public VET (TAFE Training Institutes) and private colleges in Perth and regional Western Australia.
